Fasting ( niyat marnovi ) is rigorously observed by A.H., but lasts only for three days. It takes place in winter. The exact period of this ritual differs between Khandans . Observance of this tradition is considered an obligation by all who have been ( Sarsepordeh ) initiated to the order. Breaking of the fast at sunset normally takes place collectively in each community on all three days. The last evening the breaking of fast is followed by a ceremony ( Shab-e Padeshahi).
